The gateway of the weekend is upon us again. It is that time of the week when a good number of us cannot wait to leave work and just take a two-day break.
Ideally, the weekend is a time of rest. But times are different as well as individuals.
For this reason, there usually isn’t a monotonous activity for Nigerians during the weekends. While some individuals may delve into certain weekend activities, others simply cannot bring themselves to. And who can blame anyone? We all lead different lifestyles.
Drawing inspiration from Skales’ ‘Booty Language’, there are different ways individuals interpret the weekend in their language.
Turn up kings and Queens
For a good number of individuals, the sure way to spend the weekend is to turn up. Whether it’s for a house party or club, these guys never fail to channel their turn up spirits into full gear to enjoy themselves and ease off the tension of the week.
It’ll be shocking to find out that a certain turn-up queen or king at a club is a serious bureau person by profession.
And best believe, turning up does help these individuals unwind the stress of the previous week and prepare them for the nouveau week ahead.
Weekends are for culture
The art lovers and individuals full of soul are most likely to be found in artsy places. Weekends in Lagos are plentiful with art, and photo exhibitions for the soulful audience.
These individuals most likely belonging to the budding creative industry, are big on art events like exhibitions, open-mic nights, poetry slams and art events.
In doing so, these creatives are able to both relax, appreciate art and network with individuals from the same industry.
Watch out though for the wannabe art lovers who go to such events to pretentiously appreciate art.
It is time to rest
For some individuals, the weekend presents the perfect time to rest and remain indoors. To these people, God’s gift of the weekend cannot be wasted on going out.
Usually, of introverted nature, these guys fear the idea of leaving the comfort of their houses to go out. If you have a friend belonging to this category, you’ll understand what a struggle it is to get these guys out of the house.
Do not be mistaken though, these introverts know how to have fun indoors by organizing book clubs, engaging in conversations with friends or binge-watching series and movies.
Some individuals are big on attending events and gaining both knowledge and business networks and connections. Keen of event update platforms, these guys are bound to spend their entire weekend going from one event to another.
Sometimes it can get really boring for these guys when they aren’t in one event or another.
For some individuals, the weekend is another time to travel to a nearby town on an adventure. For others, the reason for their weekend travels may not be to adventure but to visit loved ones.
Ladies are popular for paying their family or boyfriends a weekend visit and this may continue as a routine for them.
Nigerian weddings are still popularly held over the weekend despite the latest trend of weekday weddings. And while it may be shocking how many weddings hold every other weekend, some individuals make it their duty to attend another wedding every other week.
While other individuals try to find escape and rest during the weekends, for some, the weekends are just like every other day.
These guys are so committed to their careers that they spend every waking hour working despite the day and time.
What type of individual are you and how do you spend your weekend. How do you say the weekend in your language? Is it exciting, subtle, noisy or serious?
Despite the kind of individual you are, it’s always safe to cheers to the weekend.
