This is basically a conversation I had with myself about whether or not to keep chasing a girl who didn’t seem to like me back.
I think it’s pretty funny😊.
I’ve been told I give up too easily sometimes. That I can be less than persistent with things I obviously care about. I agree, for the most part, but, here’s the thing, how exactly am I supposed to fight for something I can see that I’ve lost or never even had a chance of winning?
Well, yes, you obviously give up too easily. It’s probably my greatest gripe with you. You can go from Napoleon-in-sweatpants to spineless wimp faster than anything I’ve seen — including light. The transformation is complex and intriguing enough to be a Physics Masters’ Dissertation.
That’s because I’ve learnt that you can’t win it all. Effort vs Effect. If I can see that I’m unlikely to win here, wouldn’t I be better served by directing my energies elsewhere?
“If you can see…”. Exactly. If. You’re acting like I don’t know you. You’re using Effort vs Effect as an excuse. Nothing is certain. Not victory andcertainly not defeat. Besides, for things you care about, the Effect will always be worth the Effort, even when you lose.
So, you’re saying I should put more effort into that?
Obviously Not. Find some new hobbies.
